In the North East, 32 teams have taken part in this year’s Year 10 Maths Feast competitions. So far, events have been held at Northumbria University and The Sjovall Centre in Durham, and at time of writing, we still have two more Feasts taking place at Teeside University and King Edward VI High School in Morpeth.

In May, we were able to deliver an enrichment event face-to-face again. Biddick Academy in Sunderland invited us in to provide some enrichment sessions for their students for National Numeracy Day.

The second round of Core Maths Conferences in the academic year came to Gateshead in January, and was well received by attending delegates.

On 2 February, 20 students from the Newcastle area braved the snow and turned up at 9:15 on a Saturday morning for our latest Year 12/13 Problem Solving session at Gosforth Academy.

After closing the 2018 with our traditional and very popular Christmas lectures, organised by Phil Moxon at Teesside University for Year 10 students, we have started the New Year by launching new problem solving sessions for Year 12/13 students at Middlesbrough College Sixth Form.
