Our free and engaging one-day professional development Core Maths Conference is suitable for all current and aspiring teachers of Core Maths. If you’re currently offering, or thinking about offering, Core Maths, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Conference Overview

The conference will explore wider pedagogical approaches to teaching Core Maths effectively. We’ll look at developing Core Maths activities that are appropriate for all. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with teachers from other schools and colleges, and you’ll be encouraged to share ideas and resources.

Conference Focus

Previous conferences have focussed on estimation, critical analysis, and data. This year we are turning our attention to equity centred teaching. The Core Maths classroom often contains students with a wide range of prior achievements. Some students may be working at grade 4 on Foundation GCSE, while others might be working at grade 9.

Beyond academic levels, students also bring a variety of unique learning needs, many of which only become apparent once you start working with them. It’s important that your classroom supports every student and fosters an environment where everyone can thrive.

During this conference you’ll explore the fundamental principles of equity centred teaching. You’ll look at how to develop engaging activities that integrate these principles into your practice. We’ll also look at how to empower your students to communicate their problem-solving processes clearly and effectively.
