Course Overview
Our interactive Setting Out in Problem Solving course equips students with essential problem-solving skills crucial for success in AS/A level Mathematics or Further Mathematics. With structured guidance and step-by-step support, students will develop a robust understanding of critical thinking, build a strong foundation in analytical reasoning, and develop effective strategies for presenting their solutions clearly.
In addition, the course also prepares students with the skills needed to excel in university admissions assessments. It boosts their confidence, empowering them to approach complex problems with greater ease and perform at their best in exams.
Who Should Apply?
This course is perfect for any AS/A Level Mathematics student with a curious, enquiring mind. The course explicitly outlines the benefits of problem-solving skills and, through interactive questions, highlights strategies to develop these skills. It would benefit students considering progression to a STEM degree at university and will introduce students to university admissions assessments.
Teachers are also welcome to attend! At the end of the session, there will be a short dedicated professional development segment that will offer valuable insights and strategies for classroom teaching.

The course is repeated across two evenings, 25 and 26 November. By registering once, students have access to both sessions. Don’t worry if they can’t make these sessions; the course is also repeated in March and July.
