The AMSP can help you with some great ways to engage your 11-16 students with maths, and inspire them to want to continue to study it beyond GCSE.
We organise an online programme of enrichment activities which include a chance to see the links between maths and other subjects and to hear about possible careers that are open to students who have taken an advanced maths qualification. Taking part in our enrichment events, and other activities we provide, can help you reach the Gatsby Benchmarks.
Course length 40 minute(s)
These enrichment events are designed to inform your secondary students about how maths is used in different careers and the importance of continuing to study maths after GCSE.
We will be joined by three guests who will talk about their careers and take questions from the students. Details of the panelists will be sent to you approximately a week before the event, within the joining instructions, to enable you and the students to prepare questions to put to the panel.
This event is a re-run of previous events and will run again in the future, however the guests will be different each time so students can attend more than one. It is envisaged that the event will either be streamed into a classroom where the session is facilitated by the teacher, or that the teacher will share the link with their students for them to join online. The event will last for approximately 40 minutes.
There will be opportunities for interaction during the session.
Maths Feast is a fun educational challenge for Year 10 students which tests problem-solving and teamwork skills. Teams of four students test their maths skills with our all-you-can-eat feast of problems! There are several rounds requiring different skills and strategies for success.
We no longer run Maths Feast events live, but you are welcome to use the materials from previous years to run it within your school.
Maths Inspiration is a national programme of interactive maths lecture shows for teenagers. We want to show 14-17 year olds that there’s far more to maths than taking exams. We give them a chance to experience the UK’s most inspiring maths speakers presenting mathematics live in the context of exciting, real-world applications.
Each year 26000 students aged between 11 and 16 participate in AMSP enrichment activities
