Our acclaimed annual four-day summer school is designed to develop pedagogical knowledge and improve teaching skills, aiming to give you the confidence to teach for understanding and engagement, rather than ‘teaching to the test’.
This online course supports you to understand how best to assist your students with the transition to undergraduate study, and how to prepare them for the mathematical expectations of university admissions tests.

One-day professional development conference, designed to support teachers of AS/A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
Developing A level Pedagogy Work Groups provide support for the effective development of pedagogy in the teaching of A level Mathematics, to enhance the quality of teaching and the conceptual understanding of students, and the development of participants as leaders of A level teaching professional development in their own school or college.
Teaching with Desmos webinars
The Desmos Graphing Calculator is a free tool that can be used on laptops, tablets and phones.
In 2024, the AMSP hosted a series of webinars exploring how the effective use of Desmos can help to deepen students’ understanding of topics in GCSE and A level Mathematics.
The webinars will support you in developing your use of the Desmos graphing calculator or the Desmos geometry tool. These are very easy-to-use tools that will help you to integrate the use of technology into both your GCSE and A level mathematics lessons.
Initial Teacher Training
If your school/college is involved in Initial Teacher Training, you might be interested to know that the AMSP is running day-long courses in twenty universities on aspects of teaching A level Mathematics for groups of trainee teachers. Contact us for details.
