COURSE OVERVIEW

Develop the specialist knowledge, confidence and practical approaches you need to teach Core Maths effectively.

Run in partnership by Maths Hubs and the AMSP, this programme focuses on Core Maths pedagogy and subject knowledge through six sessions common to all Core Maths specifications: exploring statistics, applying Fermi estimation and modelling, developing critical analysis, making sense of finance, using the pre-release materials and creating contextualised activities.

Through these themed sessions and classroom/practice-based activities, you will explore how to plan lessons that build students’ understanding and confidence, develop classroom discussion and support student progression.

The practical element is central to the programme, helping you apply what you learn directly to your own Core Maths teaching.

The programme is the equivalent of 3 days, either online or blended.

Schools and colleges must be able to commit to the full programme when applying.
